Department of Criminology

Funding Opportunites

The department has funds to support selected graduate students.

Criminology Graduate Assistantships provide $9,000 and $12,000 annual stipends for Master's students and Doctoral students respectively. These assistantships include tuition waivers. Students receiving these assistantships work 20 hours per week; the weekly work hours provide students with practical experience in teaching and/or research. These are awarded on a competitive basis; all applicants are considered for these assistantships.

Several University fellowship programs are available to students; the stipends for these awards range from $12,000 to $22,000 per year.

For information on these funding opportunities, go to www.grad.usf.edu/newsite/fellowships.asp. Note that some of the various funding programs have deadlines earlier than the Criminology application due date.

Regarding responses to Criminology Department funding offers: We abide by the resolution of the Council of Graduate Schools that requires that graduate programs give students until 4/15 to respond.
