Research Experience

Associate Director, International Center for the Study of Violence, Human Resources Institute, University of South Florida (USF). Responsible for the coordination of all activities of the Center dealing with individual violence and aggression. January 1983 to August 1988.

Principal Investigator of psychological study assessing personality development and other personality characteristics of adolescent homicide offenders in Florida prisons under a grant awarded by the USF Research Council. April 1982 to August 1985.

Technical Assistant to Sexual Abuse Victims Association, Tampa, Florida. Designed a study of the prevalence of incest and the nature of available treatment services to deal with the problem. September 1981 to April 1983.

Research Analyst, the Criminal Justice Research Center, Albany, New York, which was chosen by the National Institute of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice of the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration as the sponsoring agency for the National Evaluation of Adult Restitution Projects (NEARP) in October 1976. June 1978 to August 1981. Responsibilities included: (1) Coordinated the psychological research component of the national evaluation at various sites in New Mexico; (2) Designed and facilitated the evaluation of the Court Alternative Placement Program (CAPP), one of the national evaluation project sites, which operated in the Second District Court of Eastern Middlesex, Waltham, Massachusetts; (3) Negotiated and supervised collection of follow-up data of offenders who had participated in the Massachusetts Victim Restitution Program under the auspices of the Massachusetts Parole Board.

Research Intern, New York State Department of Corrections. Prepared a profile of the long-term female offender in the State of New York through intensive examination of parole records and statistical analyses of the data excerpted from them. January 1978 to May 1978.

Litigation Assistant, Hughes Hubbard & Reed, a Wall Street law firm. Indexed, digested, and prepared documents for trial re: antitrust litigation; conducted research in oil industry and executed "fact" projects pertinent to the industry and to the pending lawsuits. December 1976 to August 1977.
