The Criminology Graduate Student Association
The purpose of the CGSO is to serve and advocate for graduate students within the
department of Criminology both at the departmental and university levels. The CGSO
is responsible for hosting workshops aimed at improving teaching and research effectiveness,
organizing and implementing the annual departmental research symposium, addressing
student concerns, enhancing communication between faculty and students, and assisting
with orientation of incoming graduate students.
The CGSO also serves as a support network for Criminology graduate students at the
individual-level. We support each other through the difficult times such as finals
and the comp-process and celebrate the victories like a first publication or successful
dissertation defense. We plan parties and events throughout the semester, as well
as actively participate in service projects for the community.
